Abstract

​

This year, the 5th International Scientific Conference «The Factor of Space in Historical Research» took place. The holding of a scientific event with this thematic orientation began in 2018. At that time, a round table of the same name was organized, within which issues related to the use of geographic information systems, remote sensing data, spatial methods and approaches in various branches of historical science were discussed. The level of interest that arose in the raised issues convinced the organizers of the prospects of holding such events in the future. Therefore, starting from 2019, the scientific conference «The factor of space in historical research» is held every year for 5 years (from 2021 – international). The proposed post is a kind of report for the entire period of the conference's existence, which provides a general description of the quantitative indicators and geography of the participants, a list of the main areas discussed at the meetings, etc.

In general, it can be said that during the entire existence of this platform, the positive dynamics of increasing the number of its participants, expanding their geography, diversifying the topics of reports, the range of researched problems and areas of application of spatial approaches can be traced
