Abstract

The article is devoted to the history of the establishment and development of the concept of creating a metropolitan open-air museum (NMFALU) in a natural, authentic landscape. The authorship and idea of building the Kyiv museum belongs to the leading academicians and architects of Ukraine. The presentation of the material is based mainly on archival sources recorded in the reports of the museum's scientific workers during numerous ethnographic expeditions that covered the entire territory of Ukraine in the period from 1969 to 2024. Preservation of historical and cultural national traditions, which should not fade into oblivion from the memory of our descendants, is considered by the authors of this article as one of the main tasks of today. For the museum, this is the promotion of the preservation of the ecological nature of the landscape in combination with the use of the construction experience and achievements of the national architects of previous generations, practically outlining the ways of their introduction into the modern life and everyday life of Ukrainians.
