Abstract

Period 1959–1964 – one of the most complex and difficult in the history of the Orthodox Church in Moldova. On the one hand, it was at this time that the ongoing destruction of churches, the aggressive propaganda of the authorities directed against the faith, the church clergy and all believers, fell. Period 1965–1966 – the years when there was a rejection of the aggressive Khrushchev policy of destroying churches. Therefore, the authorities then behaved rather passively, relatively weakly trying to stop various phenomena that were considered violations at that time. In 1967, while still at the level of the Government, a number of provisions were adopted that significantly regulated the activities of the church. The authorities of the republic in this direction are finally activated after the decision of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of March 11, 1969, which laid the foundation for intensive atheistic activity in all areas of life and activity of the republic. This contributed to a certain decrease in rituals and increased supervision over Orthodox churches, as well as the introduction of tax and administrative, and in some cases criminal penalties for violators of new restrictive decisions of the authorities
